Bishop Blaize, Burdrop

Falkland Arms, Great Tew

(Wadworth)

If you are visiting the area you will want to see this lovely village of thatched cottages and call in to the famous, characterful pub currently listed in the Good Beer Guide. Well-kept real ales are served by the landlady, and good food is also available. Although this is a Wadworth house, there is always an exciting range of cask ales available. Plenty of seating can be found in the garden at the rear and in the front of the pub. Some well-appointed accommodation is available. Currently listed in The Good Beer Guide. Awarded 'Unspoilt Pub of the Year' in the 2001 edition of The Good Pub Guide. Also awarded the Cask Marque.

Killingworth Castle, Wooten (Near Woodstock)

(Greene King)

The village lies not far from Woodstock and the pub can be found by driving through the village to the far side. The three storey, seventeenth century inn is a pleasant traditional local that offers good real ales and food served by the friendly landlord and landlady. They hold the ‘Cask Marque’ for expertise in cellar management. There are regular folk evenings and jazz with top-rated performers. The bar has a lovely beech floor and plenty of simple wooden furniture for ample seating. Currently listed in the Good Beer Guide.

Accommodation available also. Full details on internet: www.oxlink.co.uk/woodstock/kilcastle

Royal Oak Ramsden

(Free House)

The only remaining pub in this beautiful upmarket village. Excellent ales looked after by the landlord who is a keen member of CAMRA. The emphasis here is on good value food, served in the restaurant and the bar. Always a good atmosphere with conversation and no piped music. Located in the centre of this long village, near the war memorial and church. Currently listed in the Good Beer Guide. Excellent new extensions were made two years ago and have added much space in the restaurant, with a separate area for drinking only.
